So, you’ve started doing research.¶
Welcome! Research can feel pretty vague when you are new to it, so I have written down how I approach the parts I do most often: reading papers, building systems and writing things up.
Everything on this site is my opinion. These are the tools, habits and workflows that make sense to me, based on the work I have done. They are not official instructions, they are not the only way to do research, and they are definitely not a research Bible.
You might prefer different tools. You might organise your work differently. You might come up with a much better way of doing something—and that is completely fine.
When you are starting from scratch, though, it can be useful to see one person's process written out clearly. Use this guide as a reference, try the parts that seem useful, and gradually build a system that works for you.
